How to Rest + Reset in the Finger Lakes

The Finger Lakes has always been one of our favorite places to escape. There’s just something about this place that makes it the perfect destination to rest, relax, and rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul. It could be the incredible landscape. Or maybe it’s the food and wine. Or just being somewhere different so that you finally get a moment to yourself. Whatever it is for you, we know that the FLX region is special.

If you're in need of some self-care and serenity, here are some ways to rest and relax in the Finger Lakes:

Yoga and Meditation

Immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere of our beautiful home away from home and join a yoga class to stretch and unwind. Around Seneca Lake, there’s Selah Yoga, Six Circles Farm, and Katy Dunlap Yoga (who offers virtual class options in case you want to stretch without leaving your rental!). You can also keep your eyes out for yoga popup events along the lakeshore or at one of the region’s wineries.

Searching for meditation spots? Visit Watkins Glen State Park, the Finger Lakes National Forest, or any of the natural regions that surround our properties and practice your own ritual. You can also get guidance from Pueo Collaborative, which hosts energy healing, yoga, and meditation sessions around Seneca Lake.

Spas and Wellness Centers

Indulge in some well-deserved pampering when you visit the area and treat yourself to a soothing massage, rejuvenating facial, or a relaxing body treatment that’ll leave you feeling like a brand new person.

Around Seneca Lake, you’ll find floatation therapy at Inner Peace Floats in Watkins Glen, massage with Wellness by Danielle or at The Body Sacred, a variety of spa services at Isabella Spa-Salon, or options to chill or work up a sweat at North Shore Wellness Club

Nearby Ithaca also has some incredible spa and skincare destinations, like Rasa, August Moon Spa at La Tourelle, and Norabloom. And, if you don’t mind a bit of a drive, Mirbeau has one of the top rated spas in New York.

Nature Bathing

Discover the healing power of nature by engaging in the practice of nature bathing on your Finger Lakes vacation. This Japanese concept, known as shinrin-yoku, involves immersing yourself in the forest environment and mindfully connecting with nature. Here’s where you can learn more about forest bathing and how to practice it on your own!

Explore the peaceful trails of the Finger Lakes National Forest or visit tranquil locations such as Watkins Glen State Park, Taughannock Falls State Park, or Buttermilk Falls State Park to start your own forest bathing practice. Breathe in the fresh air, listen to the soothing sounds of nature, and allow yourself to be rejuvenated.

Remember, taking time for rest and relaxation is essential for your overall well-being. The Finger Lakes region offers a perfect setting to escape the demands of daily life and find peace within yourself. Whether you choose to practice yoga, indulge in spa treatments, connect with nature, or simply unwind by the lakeshore, the Finger Lakes has it all.

So, take a break, let yourself really breathe, and let the restorative power of the region revitalize your mind, body, and spirit.
