We Love Our Finger Lakes Escape

Just two hours from our home in northeastern Pennsylvania is a place that feels like pure magic. It’s a beautiful drive up north, through rolling hills and past crystal waters. It’s surrounded by picturesque vineyards, hiking and biking trails, and plenty of things to see and do. The minute we discovered Seneca Lake, we were absolutely smitten.

Seneca Lake is nestled in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York and is an absolute gem if you’re looking for a place to get away. Here are some of our favorite features of our home away from home. We know you’ll love getting to see and explore it all for yourself!

A Feast for the Senses

Whether you're taking a leisurely drive around the lake or hiking one of the many trails that wind through the area, you'll be treated to stunning views that will take your breath away. Also, did we mention the food and wine?

Seneca Lake is famous for its wineries, and for good reason. The area boasts more than 50 wineries -- the most of all the lakes -- and many offer tastings and tours. From small family-owned operations to large, world-renowned vineyards, there's something for every wine lover. And with the lake's unique microclimate, the area produces some truly exceptional wines. When you stay with us, we’ll provide you with a list of our favorite wineries and distilleries in the area, so you can find the perfect bottle!

When it comes to food, there’s no shortage of things to taste and try in and around Seneca Lake. Farm-to-table cuisine, artisan cheesemakers and bakers, old-school diners, and even late-night chicken and waffles -- this place has it all!

An Outdoor Paradise

If you're looking for outdoor adventure, Seneca Lake is the perfect place to get out and enjoy all that nature has to offer. With miles of hiking and biking trails, as well as water sports like kayaking, paddle boarding, and boating, there's no shortage of outdoor activities to enjoy. And in the winter, the area transforms into a winter wonderland, with opportunities for skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing.

We love going boating and kayaking on Seneca Lake -- there’s seriously nothing like getting some time on the water. It just makes everything better. And Watkins Glen State Park is just 10 minutes away from our vacation rental, making it the perfect place to get out for a morning hike. Did you know that Watkins Glen State Park has 19 incredible waterfalls, too?

So Much to See and Do!

Besides the breathtaking landscape, Seneca Lake has several great towns to explore. Close to us is Watkins Glen and Geneva. Both are filled with charming shops and restaurants. And just a short drive away, you’ll find museums, animal sanctuaries, and other attractions.

The Watkins Glen International is a world-famous race track just 10 minutes from our property -- and one of our favorite places to go. If you’ve got a need for speed, make sure to add this to your list. It’s best known for the Formula One United States Grand Prix, which it has hosted for more than 20 years, but it also is home to many other races and concerts throughout the year.

These are just a few of the things we love about our vacation home in the Finger Lakes, but know that the list of things to see and do is truly endless! We’d love to help you plan your perfect trip to Seneca Lake -- when you book with us, you’ll get an exclusive guide we’ve created from our many visits around the region. We’ll tell you where to find incredible breakfasts, tasty sips, and the best views. Trust us -- you’ll fall in love with this place as much as we have!
